Role
Who you are
- 7+ years of product marketing or growth marketing experience at a technology company, with a track record of independently owning end-to-end go-to-market strategy and execution
- Experience marketing complex B2B software, financial technology, billing, payments, or other products that require translating technical concepts into clear customer value
- Demonstrated ability to develop positioning and messaging, lead product launches, and drive adoption across multiple customer segments
- Strong customer orientation and analytical judgment, with experience combining research, market insight, and performance data to shape strategy and influence product decisions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling narratives for executive, technical, sales, and customer audiences
- Proven cross-functional leadership and stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence and deliver results across Product, Engineering, Sales, and Marketing teams
- You're encouraged to apply even if your experience doesn't precisely match the job description. Your skills and passion will stand out—and set you apart—especially if your career has taken some extraordinary twists and turns
What the job involves
- Our Product Marketing team's mission is to generate customer insights that inform Stripe's product strategy, and lead go-to-market for our suite of products. Product Marketing is a highly cross-functional role at Stripe, partnering closely with Product and Engineering, Sales, Partnerships, Demand Generation and Campaigns to name a few
- Different from many other Product Marketing teams, our team works across the entire product lifecycle, from helping shape the product, to driving launch and commercialization, to growing product adoption post-launch
- We are looking to hire a Product Marketing Manager to own end-to-end go-to-market strategy for Stripe Subscriptions to help businesses build, launch, and scale recurring revenue models
- As a Product Marketing Manager for Subscriptions, you will set the go-to-market strategy for our subscription management offerings, translating customer needs and market dynamics into positioning, launches, and programs that drive adoption and growth
- Set go-to-market strategy — Build and own the end-to-end go-to-market strategy for subscription management offerings, defining target audiences, priority use cases, routes to market, and measures of success
- Champion the customer — Develop deep insight into the needs of businesses with recurring revenue models through customer research, market analysis, and close partnership with user-facing teams; translate those insights into product and commercial recommendations
- Shape positioning and messaging — Create clear, differentiated narratives that make complex billing and monetization capabilities accessible and compelling to businesses ranging from startups to global enterprises
- Lead product launches — Partner with Product, Engineering, Sales, Partnerships, and Demand Generation to bring new capabilities to market, coordinating launch plans and enabling teams to deliver a consistent customer experience
- Drive adoption and growth — Design and execute programs that increase awareness, activation, and sustained usage across priority customer segments, using data and experimentation to improve performance
- Enable customer-facing teams — Equip Sales and other user-facing teams with the insights, content, and tools they need to communicate value, navigate customer needs, and accelerate adoption
- Measure and optimize impact — Define goals and success metrics, synthesize qualitative and quantitative signals, and turn results into actionable recommendations for product and go-to-market teams
Our take
Stripe, nowadays a FinTech giant, spent the first few years since its founding building up its payments business, which primarily consisted of providing an API to eCommerce businesses so that they could easily integrate a payment option in their apps or websites, where before there was none.
More recently, Stripe has started to accelerate its growth with a significantly larger range of financial services including cash advances and credit cards. They also plan to build incorporation services, fraud protection, and more, diversifying its revenue away from payments and differentiating itself from its competitors.
To further expand its position, the company is extending its services to countries with vast customer potential, including Brazil, Japan and India. It is also partnering with OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT - a win-win collaboration that is monetising OpenAI’s flagship products and at the same time enhancing Stripe with GPT-4, as it moves forward with intentions to "build the payments foundation for tomorrow's AI economy."
