Company mission
Zapier's mission is to Make Automation Work for Everyone!
Role
Who you are
- This isn’t your first rodeo. You have 4-6+ years of accounting/finance-specific experience, with 2+ years of working with Marketing or GTM orgs. A background in Big 4 Accounting, Investment Banking, or Management Consulting with meaningful ownership of operating expense areas
- You're comfortable owning a budget end to end, including headcount, spend actuals, and purchase orders, and communicating variance clearly to non-finance stakeholders
- You have a strong grasp of channel-level marketing economics (pipeline generation vs. brand), cost per pipe, and how to connect spend to downstream pipeline and revenue outcomes
- You're comfortable with ambiguity - able to structure a loosely-defined problem yourself rather than needing it handed to you fully scoped
- You have good judgment and a bias toward surfacing issues and opportunities proactively, not waiting to be asked
- You actively use AI tools to work more efficiently, with the judgment to know when to go deep manually and when to lean on the tool
- You're a strong written and verbal communicator, able to turn a complex analysis into a short, clear executive takeaway with guidance from your manager
- Experience with Google Sheets, a data warehouse (Databricks or Snowflake), NetSuite, Zip, and HubSpot is preferred
- We're looking for the best fit for each of our roles, regardless of the type of companies in your background, so we encourage you to apply even if your skills and experiences don’t exactly match the job description
What the job involves
- We're looking for a Finance Manager to be the dedicated finance partner for Zapier's marketing organization
- This is a unique opportunity to own the full financial picture for one of the most strategically important spend areas at the company - headcount, budget, and channel investment while playing a key role in connecting marketing activity to pipeline and revenue outcomes
- You'll report into the Head of GTM Finance and partner closely with marketing leadership, working closely with Sales FP&A and Corporate FP&A to establish a clean interlock between marketing, sales, and company level financials
- Own marketing FP&A end-to-end: headcount planning, budget building, and actuals tracking, so marketing leadership always has a clear, current view of where things stand against plan
- Own channel allocation analysis (demand generation vs. brand) and drive ROI-by-channel reporting
- Work on sales pipeline forecasting based on spend, as part of setting GTM targets and ARR modeling, flagging risks to pipeline coverage or targets early
- Serve as an embedded business partner to marketing leadership - not a once-a-month reporting function, but someone marketing trusts to think through decisions with in real time
- Track purchase orders and vendor commitments against budget, flagging overspend risk before it happens
- Analyze the connection between marketing spend, pipeline generation, and closed-won revenue, working cross-functionally with Sales and RevOps
- Partner with the Data team to establish and govern pipeline reporting definitions (leads, MQLs, opportunities) so the funnel is consistent end to end
- Use AI to automate recurring finance processes, building skills and agents that can run parts of month-end close and re-forecasting cycles
Our take
Even before remote working became the "in thing", freelancers, small business owners, and large organisations have found themselves needing more and more software platforms to serve their operational needs. As people used more software services, Zapier founders saw the need to connect the actions between these software and save everyone some time.
Zapier is the largest integration and automation tool for businesses. Since its founding, Zapier has grown its suite of automation offerings across almost every mainstream software service. The company is one of the most successful to come out of Y Combinator and has also been a pioneer of remote working.
Zapier has so far been able to capitalise heavily on its advantage as one of the first entrants and has had very little actual competition. Software services aren't going anywhere anytime soon, and organisations are only going to need more of them. This puts Zapier in a strong position for growth, but also opens up room for bolder companies to get in on the action. Companies like Airtable and Integromat are already preying on more niche segments of Zapier's market share.

Additional info
- As a fully remote company with 800+ team members across 40+ states, 38 countries, and 18+ timezones, we’ve adopted a culture of asynchronous work. This work style allows teams to collaborate effectively across locations, time zones, skills, and each individual’s energy levels, and empowers employees to work in a setting that fits their needs. In practice, we live on Slack, with most conversations in public channels. It mimics the open-office feel and allows everyone to search the chat logs if they need to find something that happened when they weren’t around
