Company mission
To improve the connections between people and tools to make companies more productive and secure.
Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience as a Product Designer
- Your portfolio will show that you’ve worked on complex and challenging technical projects across all aspects of the design process (generative and evaluative research, discovery, interaction design, information architecture, visual design, etc.)
- You’re curious and have experience incorporating AI into your design process, including the ability to craft tools, iterate on ideas collaboratively with AI, and document sophisticated prompts for scaled use
- You stay grounded in delivering real user value even when moving fast and are able to connect the dots across a fast-moving, complex portfolio without losing sight of the person on the other end of the workflow
- You’re comfortable owning all stages of design, from early discovery through final execution and handoff, and collaborating closely across design, product, and engineering across teams to get there
- You thrive in ambiguous environments and know when to lead versus when to learn
- You build and share empathy with people in order to deeply understand them and their needs
- You are someone who sees design as a partner with PM and Engineering in shaping strategic and operational product and UX outcomes
- You showcase storytelling skills to communicate your design ideas to a variety of stakeholders
What the job involves
- You will join a team of designers and researchers who work collaboratively to deliver high quality solutions to complex identity problems
- As a centralized design team, we have a high degree of autonomy and ownership towards the outcomes we drive for our customers
- We also work closely with our Product Management and Engineering counterparts to ensure our solutions are not only user-centric but also technically feasible and aligned with business needs
- Together, we collaborate to define problems, explore innovative solutions and deliver seamless experiences that enhance security and usability for our customers
- Drive and execute an ambitious product design strategy for your team ensuring a meaningful impact on both user experience and business outcomes
- Bring a systems-thinking lens to the conversation and connect the dots between user insights and business goals to create experiences that keep millions of customers safe every day
- Drive impact by framing problems and exploring solutions in collaboration with user research, UX writing, product management, engineering, marketing, and data science to deliver best in class experiences. You will have the opportunity to lead through influence
- Design end-to-end flows that involve multiple personas – IT Admin, Security admins, End-user – and consider complex use cases that span the Okta portfolio ensuring that every user of Okta can do their work efficiently while staying secure
- Perfect the details to design scalable and usable design patterns that drive a lasting impact, ensuring they not only meet a high bar for design quality and efficiency but also enhance efficiency and consistency across the product
- Regularly present work, concepts, and new ideas to cross-functional team members, adjacent teams, and senior leadership to drive alignment, showcase design impact and influence key product decisions
- Advocate and encourage thoughtful use of AI for brainstorming and iterating on potential solutions, prototyping, and collaborating with team members
Our take
Okta started off as an identity company where organisations, large and small, could tap into the company to have a single sign-on interface to access all cloud applications now centralised. Okta has since expanded to provide identity management at the device as well as the server level.
The new approach towards network security is increasingly based on identification and authentication, and Okta is on track to become the go-to vendor in the space. It aims to do so by developing products that enable people to access applications and other tools more smoothly and securely than ever before.
Okta has taken strides towards expansion through significant employee growth and shuffling executive leadership. The company has also made lateral moves such as tackling governance concerns, opening up new paths for revenue.
