Role
Who you are
- Has 5+ years of product management (or equivalent) experience, ideally with exposure to b2b saas products, product infrastructure, and platforms
- Strong technical fluency: experience working with engineers around systems, APIs, data models, etc
- Excellent customer discovery skills: comfortable conducting interviews, writing journey maps, and synthesizing qualitative + quantitative inputs
- Track record of shipping infrastructure or platform features that were adopted broadly or had measurable impact
- Highly structured thinker, able to write and communicate complex concepts simply
- Comfortable operating with high autonomy, ambiguity, and responsibility
- Strong collaboration skills: able to manage stakeholders, drive alignment, and hold cross-team accountability
What the job involves
- You’ll join the core Platform & Infrastructure product org. This team builds the foundational systems and services that serve as the backbone for features across our entire product suite
- While many infrastructure teams operate behind the scenes, ours sits at an intersection. We build systems that internal vertical teams depend on, and we also deliver features that directly touch end users (e.g. platforms, self-service tools, dashboards). Because of that, you’ll balance deep technical rigor with customer empathy
- We operate in a high-growth, high-authenticity engineering culture. You’ll partner with senior engineers, architects, and cross-functional leads, and have high visibility across the org
- Define and own the roadmap for one or more core infrastructure domains (such as notification platform, documents platform, user management, etc.)
- Deeply engage with internal stakeholders (engineering leads, vertical PMs, operations) and our customers to drive discovery and specification
- Drive initiatives end-to-end: from ideation, discovery, scoping, to launch, adoption, and iteration
- Work directly with customers/stakeholders (sometimes on-site at their operations) so that your deliverables are finely tuned to their unique and complex processes
- Ensure infrastructure is resilient, scalable, observable, and secure — balancing performance, reliability, and long-term extensibility
- Lead discovery for complex customer processes: conduct customer interviews and complete process mapping across multiple customers of varying profiles
- Deep ability to map processes and systems even in high ambiguity — e.g. you can take a domain with many moving pieces and build a reliable abstraction
- Write clear, structured product specs, user stories that are easy to understand, even for someone without any domain knowledge
- Partner closely with engineering leadership and architects to make tradeoffs on design, performance, scale, and technical debt
- Evangelize infrastructure best practices across the organization and influence roadmap tradeoffs
Our take
The mortgage servicing market is huge but surprisingly outdated. In the US alone, it covers roughly $13T in mortgages, yet many servicers still use legacy systems and manual processes to manage payments, compliance and customer support. Because mortgage servicing involves complex regulations and many exceptions, these older systems can be inefficient and costly to run, creating a strong opportunity for modern technology to improve how the industry operates.
Valon is trying to modernize this space with ValonOS, an AI-native operating system built specifically for mortgage servicing. The platform doesn't just store loan data, it also captures the rules and workflows behind servicing decisions. This allows companies to automate routine processes, improve visibility into operations, and manage compliance more easily. To prove the system works, Valon has also built and run its own large mortgage servicing business on the platform.
The company has gained strong backing from major industry players too. Investor Rithm Capital Corp. plans to roll out Valon's technology to over 4M homeowners through Newrez, one of the largest US mortgage servicers. If this rollout succeed, it could demonstrate that modern, AI-driven systems can operate at industry scale and potentially reshape mortgage servicing.
