Role
Who you are
- 5+ years of experience in Interaction design or UX
- Three years of experience working in a complex, cross-functional organization, including two years of leading design projects and working with executive leaders
- Familiarity with creating products that use generative AI
- Problem-solving skills and familiarity with technical constraints and limitations as they apply to designing developer platforms
- Experience working with technical/design teams to create user flows and wireframes, and build user interface mockups and prototypes
- Ability to lead and ideate products from scratch and improve features within a user-centered design process
- Skills in communicating and influencing product design strategy
- The ability to thrive in ambiguity and eagerness to drive meaningful product direction
- This is a hybrid role requiring time in the SF office
What the job involves
- Join Twelve Labs as a Senior Interaction Designer and play a pivotal role in revolutionizing video understanding and multimodal AI
- Based in San Francisco, CA, you will lead high-impact, user-centered design, align cross-functional teams around user needs, and prioritize high-value features
- As an Interaction Designer, you’ll rely on user-centered design methods to craft intuitive user experiences—from concept to execution
- You will collaborate with your design partners to enhance the Twelve Labs design language and create exceptional, innovative products that establish positive emotional connections with our customers
- Contribute to the overall design and product direction at Twelve Labs
- Craft high-quality product designs, from early concepts to high-fidelity prototypes and visuals
- Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, researchers, and data scientists to understand requirements, provide creative solutions, and help shape our product roadmap and vision
- Communicate the experience design at various stages of the design process with wireframes, flow diagrams, storyboards, mockups, and high-fidelity prototypes
- Integrate user feedback and business requirements into ongoing product experience updates
- Advocate for the prioritization of design-centered changes, refinements, and improvements
Our take
Developing an algorithm that can understand text or images is (relatively) straightforward. However, the challenge escalates when it comes to understanding video, where these modes merge with audio, and context becomes much harder to grasp.
Twelve Labs has developed a machine learning solution that tackles this challenge by making the inner content of videos both indexable for developers and highly searchable for users. This technology could prove immensely valuable, with use cases extending far beyond simple searchability for end users. It could be employed for more accurate monitoring of community guidelines on social media, enterprise knowledge searches, and a deeper understanding of the value of video content.
With funding under its belt, Twelve Labs is set for rapid growth. The investment will drive R&D, nearly double its workforce, and advance its video understanding technology. As it expands, Twelve Labs is well-positioned to lead the future of multimodal AI and revolutionize how organizations extract values from video content.
