Architecture and design professionals need real-world samples of the materials they intend to work with, and they need to know what they’re picking is the best fit for their project. Historically, there’s been no universal aggregator of all available materials - you’d just have to know who and where to ask. Material Bank is changing this, with a service it describes as being the Expedia of design samples.
Material Bank is the largest materials marketplace for the A&D industry. Offering a wide range of material samples from carpets to hardwoods, all sample orders have next-day delivery availability across Canada and the US, and is always free for design professionals. The company's profit comes from selling spots within its rapidly growing marketplace community to vendors and manufacturers, connecting brands with thousands of vetted design professionals.
It’s an offering with a remarkably tight market fit, demonstrated by its swelling customer base and investment funding. The company has begun its global expansion, having launched in Japan, and it is focusing on growing into the European market through an office in Paris. It is also cementing its success through an M&A strategy, most recently incorporating Architizer's architectural project database into its product.
