What the job involves

The Business Development Associate will help drive new business opportunities and help lead the design for both conceptual projects and finalized construction projects
This will require a wide range of leadership, technical and project management abilities
This person will be critical to our overall growth strategy as The Boring Company continues our growth trajectory
Serve as a representative for the company regarding project status and design to external stakeholders including, but not limited to clients, government officials, politicians, regulatory bodies, auditors, and community members
Work closely with the design, construction, and regulatory teams to ensure projects start and finish on time, run smoothly on budget and on schedule
Prepare external facing client briefings about project status and site specific details
Work closely with the design, construction, and regulatory teams to track and communicate project status
Develop expert knowledge of the construction and operations of the Loop system
Develop processes and systems to ensure timely communication with clients, partners and completion of tasks

Our take

Addressing urban congestion, The Boring Company aims to build tunnel systems in major US cities, as well as products that help transport materials underground with as little disruption as possible. Founded by Elon Musk, the company boasts both strong initial support as well as a good deal of scepticism towards its mission.

The company has raised impressive funding, including a $675 million Series C in 2022, and is a certified Unicorn. It has completed successful tunnel projects in Las Vegas, although safety concerns were raised in 2024 regarding a tunnel planned to span 68 miles beneath the Nevada city.

Its certainly an interesting proposition, but we will have to wait and see how The Boring Company's projects really fare in reducing overground traffic. Meanwhile, the success of the company has been a little obscured by the use of its website to advertise zombie apocalypse “not-a-flamethrowers” and a retail page for Elon's “Burnt Hair” fragrance.
