Who you are
- We are looking for engineers who are passionate about building consumer products
- You have experience with metrics driven iterative product development at a fast pace
- You get excited by working on customer problems closely with our customer support and servicing teams
- You care about prioritizing and measuring impact, and driving towards impact driven goals and metrics
- You have built consumer interfaces at scale
- You have built consumer interfaces that work in all network conditions and gracefully degrade as the network worsens
- You care about the debounce time on a typeahead, or the layout of a card on different devices
- You obsess over what contrast will get you the best engagement on a specific UI element
- You worry about how your current feature will interact with the existing UX
- You have led large technically complex projects with a lot of moving parts
- You have a lot of experience with a lot of disparate systems
- You have worked on production grade compilers, operating systems, or large distributed systems
- You can jump into a new environment and hit the ground running without much hand holding
- You’re fine with us not having answers yet. You want to be part of figuring out the answers
- You thrive in highly collaborative environments and are down to riff with us on anything from company mission to software architecture to user research

Our take
Founded in 2019, Aven is a credit card provider that uses home equity to provide users with low interests rates on their credit cards (known as HELOC). The company prides itself on minimalism and speed (without hindering quality) - with users able to be approved in as little as fifteen minutes for one of its cards.
With its mobile friendly, fast app, Aven is a bit of a phenomenon in the credit card space. It is the first credit card to be created with the unlocking of home equity, and its “without frills” approach makes what can be quite a daunting and overwhelming process seem far more approachable for its customers.
Aven has had multiple successful funding rounds since it was founded, enabling it to expand operations and pursue its mission. A 2024 Series D fundraise saw the company reach Unicorn status, with next steps including the goal of expanding to all 50 states by 2025 and exploring new market categories in the future.
