Role
Who you are
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a mix of public accounting and retail or hospitality environment in the US
- Qualification (CPA) preferred
- Strong understanding of both US GAAP & IFRS accounting principles and financial reporting
- Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP system
- Experience with Coupa or similar billing and invoicing accounting software
- Proficiency in Microsoft suite of products, particularly Excel (VLOOKUPS and Pivot Tables at a minimum)
- Ability to identify and solve problems and clearly communicate solutions
- Ability to work independently own deliverable timelines and communicate workstream issues
- Approaches work with a team mindset and understands the importance of cross-functional communication
What the job involves
- We’re looking for a Senior Accountant who is excited to help scale Blank Street’s US accounting function with rigor, structure, and strong ownership. If you thrive in detail-heavy, execution-focused environments and take pride in keeping financial records accurate, timely, and compliant, this role is for you
- You’ll own core accounting workflows including month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations, and statutory reporting, while strengthening processes that support a fast-moving, growing business
- You’ll also partner closely with Finance, Operations, People, and external parties as a go-to resource for accounting execution, audit support, supplier queries, and process improvement
- This in-person role is based in our Brooklyn, NY office and reports to the Director of Finance
- Manage US accounts reporting and intercompany accounting across international entities
- Prepare timely, accurate and complete monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements
- Research, calculate, and document areas of significant judgement and estimates, including emerging or complex accounting treatments
- Own intercompany journals and reconciliations between entities
- Collaborate on period-end close and balance sheet integrity
- Perform period-end close of the general ledger, including preparation and posting of journal entries and accruals
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts and maintain supporting schedules
- Support day-to-day accounting operations and vendor payments
- Provide operational support, including reviewing invoices and resolving vendor issues
- Oversee timely and accurate vendor and expense payment processing in line with contractual terms and internal policies and procedures
- Build and improve accounting policies, controls, and processes
- Develop and maintain documentation for key accounting policies and procedures, including internal controls
- Proactively evaluate and implement improvements to processes and procedures
- Partner on tax and audit deliverables
- Liaise with internal and external partners to support timely preparation of quarterly and annual tax filings (for example sales, use, property, corporate, payroll) across multiple jurisdictions
- Support annual audit and quarterly review processes with external auditors
- Deliver ad-hoc analysis and research
- Perform ad-hoc research and analysis using information from various systems

What started as one electric-powered coffee cart in 2020 has expanded to over 90 locations across the US and the UK. Blank Street wants to serve coffee cheaper than Starbucks but tastier than Dunkin’ Donuts – its main competitors – and has done so with automation, specifically Eversys espresso makers that can produce 700 drinks an hour.
The chain has received mighty financing too, including from real estate tycoon Tishman Speyer as well as from General Catalyst Partners and Tiger Global Management. This brand is certainly making its mark as its growth has remained at an impressive rate, especially following its entrance into the thriving coffee shop market in the UK.
