Who you are
- 5+ years of programming experience with at least one modern compiled language such as Go, Rust, Java, or C++ and fundamentals in data structures and algorithm design
- 5+ years of experience contributing to architecture and design (architecture, design patterns, reliability and scaling) of highly available and fault-tolerant distributed systems
- Solid understanding of microservices, including the operational trade-offs of various design patterns
- Familiarity with modern CI/CD practices and build systems
- Familiarity with modern infrastructure tools, such as Docker, Kubernetes, Ansible, Cloud Formation, Terraform
- Excellent communication skills
- Embody the Company values

- Experience with Observability, Telemetry, DevOps, Kubernetes, ML, AI
- Understanding of ML training, fine tuning and inference techniques
What the job involves
- We are looking for Senior/Staff Software engineers to help design and scale our carbon-reducing cloud computing platform
- With Crusoe Cloud’s upcoming public launch, as a Software Engineer - Managed Services, you will help us advance our managed cloud offerings and build out best-in-class, out-of-the-box cloud capabilities for our customers
- You’ll play a key role in designing and implementing foundational cloud products, such as storage solutions, logging, and monitoring systems, akin to services like Amazon S3 and CloudWatch
- Your responsibilities will include evaluating and building cloud software tools and frameworks that solve core use cases for Crusoe’s customers, focusing on reliability, scalability, operational costs, ease of adoption and low-touch
- You’ll also be responsible for developing and refining technical assessments and team fit criteria to enhance our hiring and development processes
- In collaboration with engineering managers, you’ll mentor engineers and contribute to their professional growth, ensuring a strong and adaptive engineering culture
- Build: Dive into designing a scalable, highly available architecture for managed services on Crusoe Cloud such as storage, observability and logging
- Own: Ensure the architectural choices meet our security, scalability, and performance standards. Build architecture diagrams and discuss / present approaches with stakeholders for collective feedback
- Guide: Mentor junior engineers, provide guidance on design proposals and conduct thorough code reviews to ensure quality and efficiency
- Innovate: Implement market-making features that set Crusoe Cloud apart from competitors, enhancing its unique value proposition. Think like a customer
- Collaborate: Partner with the cloud support and operations teams to build managed services that support the internal SRE and Customer success teams along with Crusoe Cloud's customers
- Lead: Set a strong example of technical excellence, promoting a culture of innovation and upholding the highest standards in software engineering practices
Our take
Methane, that is mostly generated by flaring in the oil and gas industry, is a major contributor to global warming - as are the carbon emissions produced by global computing (especially bitcoin mining.) Crusoe Energy Systems reduces flaring, and repurposes waste natural gas into energy for these processes, thus removing methane from the atmosphere and simultaneously reducing the carbon footprint of computing.
Crusoe's mobile data centers can be deployed to generate power from methane waste at its source. As well as its patented Digital Flare Mitigation system, Crusoe is also working to enable alternative revenue streams for renewable and clean energy projects, with the ultimate aim to run data centers on renewable energy.
The company has connections with Kraken Oil & Gas, Devon Energy, Enerplus, and more; and its computing power is used by institutes such as MIT. The rising pressure to take action on climate change, coupled with the need for high-energy computing as more infrastructure moves online, has placed it in a massive industry. With the capability of its systems to reduce the equivalent of 8,000 tonnes per year of CO2 and 2023 debt financing amounting to $200 million in investment, Crusoe Energy Systems is well positioned to make an impact and drive for further success.
