Who you are
- Demonstrated track record of owning and shipping platform, tooling, or integration products in fintech, financial services, or SMB-focused technology with the ability to define a compelling product vision for your area, translate it into a prioritized roadmap, and build buy-in across engineering, design, and leadership
- Deep familiarity with SMB customer needs, financial workflows invoicing, accounting, payments, cash flow and the small business software ecosystem; recognized as a domain resource who can guide teams on what matters and why
- Proven ability to turn customer insight into product decisions: experience running discovery, synthesizing qualitative and quantitative signals, and making prioritization tradeoffs that are defensible with data and grounded in user reality
- Strong data proficiencyable to write clear measurement plans, instrument funnels, evaluate experiment results, and distinguish conclusive from directional signals with hands-on experience running A/B tests using modern tooling (e.g., LaunchDarkly, Amplitude, Mixpanel, or similar)
- Technical acumen sufficient to partner effectively with engineering: comfort with API concepts, integration architecture, and the ability to write clear specs and make informed tradeoff decisions without being the one writing the code
- Practical experience using AI tools to accelerate product work generating content, analyzing data, prototyping features with sound judgment about where AI adds real value and where it introduces risk, particularly in a regulated financial services context
- Experience shipping in a regulated environment, working with Risk, Compliance, and Legal to meet security, privacy, and financial services standards
- Strong communication and cross-functional stakeholder management skills; comfortable presenting to leadership and aligning teams around platform decisions in a fast-paced, ambiguous startup environment
- Bachelor's degree required; analytical, technical, or business background preferred
What the job involves
- Novo is seeking a Senior Product Manager to own the platform surface area that connects, activates, and deepens value for small businesses in their first 90 days and beyond
- This role spans our DDA onboarding to funding activation funnel, invoice workflow, external integrations ecosystem — three interconnected surfaces that together determine whether a new Novo customer becomes an engaged, transacting one
- The role will also explore how to apply AI to enhance how SMBs interact with Novo
- The ideal candidate is a hands-on product leader who combines platform and tooling depth with a growth mindset: someone who can own complex product workflows end-to-end, run rigorous experimentation, and is comfortable getting their hands dirty in LLMs
- This is a high-impact, high-visibility role at the intersection of product tooling, ecosystem connectivity, and customer activation
- DDA Onboarding & Activation Funnel
- Own the DDA application, signup, and account-opening funnel — driving activation in the first 90 days of a customer's tenure by reducing friction, improving conversion, and getting customers to their first meaningful transaction faster
- Run a steady cadence of onboarding and activation experiments using tools like LaunchDarkly, managing incentives, in-product moments, and lifecycle prompts that create compelling reasons for customers to deepen their engagement with Novo
- Invoice Workflow & Tooling
- Own the end-to-end invoice experience creation and scheduling, PDF generation, branding and customization, reminders, dispute handling, payment collection via multiple rails, and reconciliation driving adoption as a core SMB financial tool
- Identify and ship improvements that make the invoice workflow more intelligent: smart reminders, automated reconciliation, AI-assisted invoice creation, and workflow automation that reduces manual effort for busy business owners
- Integrations & Connected Platform
- Own Novo's integration ecosystem across revenue (e.g., Stripe, Square), accounting (QuickBooks, Xero), payroll (Gusto), and utilities (Slack, Zapier) deepening existing integrations from basic data sync to richer, bidirectional workflows
- Lead the vision for a Novo API strategy that enables LLM and third-party connectivity, allowing customers to query their banking and financial data through external AI assistants and business tools, while identifying new integration opportunities that address core SMB financial workflows
- Experimentation & Data
- Design, run, and scale a rigorous experimentation program across the platform — covering onboarding flows, invoice tooling, and integration adoption — with clear hypotheses, measurement plans, and ownership of outcomes
- Define and own the platform KPIs that matter — activation rate, integration adoption, invoice volume, 90-day retention — building and maintaining the analytics instrumentation needed to measure the funnel end-to-end and give leadership a shared, realistic view of platform health
- AI-Enhanced Customer Experience
- Apply AI to enhance how SMBs interact with Novo: smart invoice tooling, automated transaction categorization, agentic financial workflows, and personalized platform experiences that reduce the cognitive load of running a small business
- Defying and leading the product vision for Novo's AI integration strategy (should we build an external API, agentic workflows?) while ensuring AI-driven features meet financial services privacy and regulatory standards
- Cross-Functional Partnership & Execution
- Partner with Engineering, Design, Data, and Marketing to ship platform improvements and productionalize experimental wins into durable, scalable features — running a consistent operating cadence that surfaces friction early and optimizes for the global maximum
- Communicate progress, priorities, and tradeoffs clearly to stakeholders and leadership, with the intellectual honesty to flag when a bet isn't working and redirect accordingly

While personal banking transactions are now very swift, these processes are frustratingly not as fast for business users. For smaller businesses, the costs of ensuring banking processes are well managed can be prohibitive, and keeping track of finances often utilises a wide range of apps.
Novo has created one app with a drag-and-drop interface to manage several financial apps in one place. This helps gain a clearer picture of transactional data more quickly. This is a developing market, providing both opportunity and competition from the likes of Lili, NorthOne, Brex and numerous other Neobanks.
Novo has racked up an impressive roster of SMB customers and has seen billions of dollars in lifetime transactions. It is also well-funded, affording it the position to scale up its app partnerships whilst consolidating its market position.
