Role
Who you are
- A passion for digital storytelling
- A general knowledge of principles and standards of journalism
- A strong grasp of Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, and Illustrator, and a solid working knowledge of the overall Adobe Creative Suite
- A passion for storytelling through video on the topics we cover
- An ability to quickly storyboard from scripts into videos that will be shared across platforms
- Familiarity with digital and social media, and for how motion design can be optimised for different platforms
- An ability to work quickly and collaboratively with a fast-paced team
- Effective communication skills and be receptive to feedback
- Proofreading and copyediting skills
What the job involves
- Business Insider is hiring a motion design fellow to join its video team. This fellowship is set to begin in Summer 2025
- Our mission is to inspire action through thought-provoking stories. We help our readers discover the ideas and the people who are changing business, tech, and beyond

- We are recruiting a motion design fellow to work across our video shows
- We use animation and graphics to elevate our visual storytelling - making data, maps, and abstract concepts accessible through eye-catching and creative motion design
- The Business Insider Fellowship Program is for early career journalists who want to spend six months learning from a newsroom full of passionate, dedicated journalists
- Fellows are assigned to teams and become experts in digital storytelling
- They produce real work that is distributed to our audience of millions, and by the end of six months, they are prepared for the next phase of their journalism careers
- This role requires you to work for 40 hours a week
- Working closely with showrunners, producers, videographers, and editors to develop and create motion graphics that elevate our videos
- Identifying and creating relevant graphics such as graphs, maps, text elements, motion graphics templates, backgrounds, and more
- Working quickly and collaboratively with a fast-paced team
- This position starts in Summer 2025 and requires that you work full-time for six months

Our take
Insider - that entered the market at roughly the same time as fellow digital news and media names Buzzfeed, Vice, and HuffPost - has steadily and solidly built itself into one of the most familiar digital platforms for business, current affairs, finance and tech news.
