Our take
3i is developing an invite-only community where top private investors can pool knowledge, contacts, and deals. Not to be confused with the private equity and VC multinational 3i, this very new market addition is hoping to become a kitchen table content network and community for major, high net worth, private investment players.
Details about this fresh company are thin on the ground - for now, membership enquiries are open, and the company itself is modestly sized. Precisely how fast this ‘rapidly-growing’ network is, in fact, growing is hard to tell. In theory, however, it could prove an invaluable formalization of current, more intangible investor networks and information hubs.
How much of a need there is for these services is difficult to gauge. But as 3i assembles its content and operations team, it could be that the company is agile and broad-based enough in its current formulation to rapidly carve out a novel and important niche.
