Our take

E-commerce and retail operations continue to seek technology to refine processes for maximum efficiency. Fulfillment centers are critical to streamlining the delivery process but need faster product sorting and acquisition. 6 River Systems is leading the surge to automate and improve product handling to make e-commerce that much more efficient.

6 River Systems improves fulfillment center efficiency by combining robots, artificial intelligence and operational insights to create an easy-to-use system for product acquisition and delivery. This system helps to reduce time spent walking throughout a fulfillment center while also streamlining picking, sorting and packing items, allowing workers to concentrate on more valuable tasks.

6 River Systems’ system has been implemented in a variety of organizations, including bodybuilding.com, DHL and Office Depot. The company was also acquired by Shopify for $450 million in 2019, allowing it to focus on continued innovation in order to power the large Shopify Fulfillment Network. It also innovates through other partnerships, such as with Ricoh, which will facilitate the provision of speedier tech support for customers.

Company values

  • Build a wicked awesome team - We hire people because we are excited about their passion and we nurture and empower them to do amazing things. We encourage trust and integrity in the team and one's self
  • Be scrappy, yet thoughtful - We approach problem-solving with resourcefulness and creativity. Being scrappy is part of our DNA, but we don’t skimp where it matters. We all roll up our sleeves today to build a better 6 River Systems tomorrow
  • Find a better way - Just like Chuck finds better paths, we are constantly searching for better or alternative ways to work. We have a license to do something in a nontraditional way if we feel it’s the best way to do that thing
  • Make educated bets - We do our homework, present it in simple ways and aren't afraid to make calculated and bold decisions. We cultivate an environment where it’s OK to make mistakes as long as we learn and always get better
  • We all win when our customers win - We take the time to understand and help our customers, and create solutions they actually need. No matter which team we are on, we all win when our customers win. When our customers succeed, we all celebrate
  • Foster an environment "where everyone knows your name" - We value being collaborative and supportive, and we embrace the qualities of being good, kind and open-minded. While we don’t literally expect everyone to know everyone’s name, we care about creating a team culture where all feel welcome
