The US television measurement market has been dominated by Nielsen since the 1950s, but the Media Rating Council suspended its National Ratings Accreditation in 2021 for allegedly miscounting viewership numbers.
This has created a gap at the top of the market for a company that can not only provide TV viewership data, but attribution solutions to measure ad campaign impact in an increasingly fragmented media ecosystem where audiences are harder than ever to measure accurately.
605, which was co-founded by former Cablevision COO Kristin Dolan, is aiming to be just that by offering a self service platform with a suite of solutions to quantify television investment impact, including a multi-source viewership data set of more that 22 million households.
Since Nielsen’s accreditation was suspended, 605 has been making regular executive hires and rapidly scaling up its sales and data teams in a bid to take over.
