8BY8 is on a mission to improve sport. The company focuses on the details of video flows and data integrations so sports organisations and businesses can focus on what's most important to them.
There have never been more ways for fans to watch sport, but the performance side has been underserved. Even those closest to the action - medics, organisers and referees- can struggle to access the footage that is essential to doing their jobs.
8by8 video exists to solve this issue, providing a unified platform that underpins the entire sporting video workflow. Its tools automate large sections of the process and do away with the need for multiple applications for data integration, access control and video sharing. The platform has seen strong uptake and is used in major football leagues and tennis tournaments, as well as by a number of major sporting organisations such as the Professional Referees Organization, Euroleague Basketball and European Professional Club Rugby.
This success is all the more remarkable due to the circumstances of its founding – 8by8 began immediately before COVID lockdowns, meaning there was minimal live sport. However, it used this time wisely to develop its product and has been recognised with a nomination for the Sports Technology Awards for 2023 Startup of the Year, a testament to the company’s resilience and market fit. As sports organisations of all sizes continue to grapple with how to control and distribute their content to key stakeholders, it will be exciting to see how 8by8 grows to tackle this challenge.
