Our take

Founded back in 2003 and operating out of California and Bulgaria, Abalta was an early pioneer in the connected car software market. The company made its name predominantly through navigation solutions, but its most popular product today is WebLink, which allows drivers to connect and control their smartphone apps from in-vehicle screens.

The connected car market is growing at just under 20% every year, and is expected to be worth over $200 billion by the end of this decade. Abalta’s comparatively long history in the industry should stand it in good stead. Its existing customers and partners include Panasonic, Sony, and Adayo, whose global in-vehicle presence suggests a huge market for Abalta.

Following a 2022 merger with Zenrin USA, a company which provides software to automobile and navigation system hardware manufacturers, it appears Abalta is eyeing up further growth, starting with a significant increase in headcount.
