Abundance Investment's mission is to help users mobilise their money for good
Access to green infrastructure investments is becoming more open than it was back in 2012 when Abundance Investment launched, helping smaller investors join the deep-pocketed ranks of green energy project funders. In the intervening time, Abundance have helped standardise the practice, putting together a collection of financial tools and private and municipal investment opportunities to help users build a green portfolio from as little as £5.
This selection of investment opportunities is currently limited, which may push would-be clients away onto another green-focused investment platform. Plenty of them have cropped up recently, and reports from the last year suggest that retail investments are seeing a surge in interest in green, responsible funds. So there could be much to play for, and Abundance may need to increase their offerings to stay competitive.
Abundance’s low minimum investment, however, has historically served as a good on-ramp for investors - who on average go on to put about £15,000 into the platform. This has helped them raise over £110 million from nearly 7,000 individual investors, so the model works well. With more projects getting up off the ground after Covid, Abundance may begin to find more opportunities to broaden their selection.
