Company mission

Leading the charge for sustainable electric motor technology to achieve net zero without costing the earth.

Our take

Spun out of Newcastle University’s Centre for Advanced Electrical Drives, Advanced Electric Machines is a company that capitalised on this pioneering work to develop sustainable electric motor alternatives. The aim was to reduce energy waste in electric motors and utilise sustainable materials in their manufacture.

Since its founding in 2017, Advanced Electric Machines has set a world record in bringing an advanced aerospace motor to flight, started shipping products to South American countries, signed contracts in Asia and enjoyed a substantial Series A round in 2023. This is all testament to its motor range, which uses no rare earth materials, is free of magnets that wear down over time and utilises more sustainable aluminium in place of copper coils. All of this, alongside high motor speeds and lightweight builds, saves its customers money without compromising on quality or sustainability.

Moving forward, Advanced Electric Motors will use its rebranding as a springboard to expand the reach of its second-generation motors. The HDRM300C advances the offerings of its 150C series and was released in 2025, exemplifying the company’s dedication to continuous innovation.
