The impressive rise of Snowflake and Databricks has forged a path for a large and still growing cloud-based data analytics market. Ahana is one such player in the market, offering a managed service for Presto that allows seamless querying of data lakes and databases.

By focusing on Presto, Ahana is riding the exponential growth of a technology loved by Uber and others. With Presto, data engineers and analysts can run interactive, ad hoc analytics on large amounts of data in data lakes and other databases without the need to move data.

The company has taken a big risk in adopting a freemium model, but while it may be sacrificing revenue now, Ahana believes that offering some of its services free will be great for developers who are curious about Presto and want to get hands-on with it quickly, and through this it can contribute to growing the market.

The company has seen good funding in the past that has allowed it to scale its products and grow its go-to-market teams to drive customer adoption in the expanding space.
