To transform how scholastic sports are managed and funded, and to help reduce the financial barriers that prevent more students from experiencing the positive benefits of participation in sports and other school activities.
Aktivate is a new sports management platform designed, in part, to help tackle the issue of financial accessibility for the over 50 million US families with K-12 kids playing school sports. Alongside connecting coaches, parents, and directors, its suite of sports management tools also includes simple fundraising capabilities to help streamline better, broader access to sports for K-12 students.
One key rival in this space is the slightly more comprehensive offering from rSchoolToday, who nevertheless don’t yet offer funding services - and serve only high and middle schools. Aktivate’s focus on accessibility here will likely serve it well. The financial barrier to sports participation for low-income students is coming under scrutiny as part of a broader push across schools to improve financial inclusion. So tools to help combat this are likely to prove appealing.
Aktivate has grown fast for its relatively recent launch, too: the platform’s business partnerships has allowed it to onboard well over a million students in around 1,500 schools across 30 US states. This confident start, along with respectable funding, should give it a good leg up on its way into the market.
