The benefits VR stands to bring to the healthcare community are extensive and well-documented. Historically, however, the size, cost, and complexity of VR devices and tech have seen them only rarely used in therapeutic care. The rapid pace of tech and hardware development in this industry, however, means that this is now changing. Amelia Virtual Care is a company looking to fast-track these devices into healthcare.
This is a crucial step, as VR had been restricted predominantly to research settings. Now VR is entering the mainstream, thanks to broader uptake across other industries, and a push over recent years to seek out effective alternatives to in-person treatment.
Amelia Virtual Care have accrued a substantial number of global clients, including the NHS and the Cincinnati Children’s hospital. In April 2023, the company announced its merger with its former competitor XRHealth, creating the largest XR Therapeutics platform in the world.
