With the financial services industry growing out of the pandemic, technology is shaking up the finance world and new fintechs are on the rise. However, the established payment card service, American Express, is at the fore of the US drive toward seamless payments.

As one of the biggest financial services companies in the world, American Express competes with Discover, Visa, and Mastercard in credit card services. A key way American Express sets itself apart, is through its focus on providing the world’s best customer experience.

American Express is aiming to continue their expansion and increase its market cap, which has grown steadily since March 2020. This can be seen through their partnership with Nova Credit. The company also plans to get even more into the small business market, such as through the purchase of lender Fintech, Kabbage.

Steve Squeri

After studying at Manhattan College, Steve spent 4 years at Accenture as a Management Consultant. In 1985, he left this role to join American Express as a Manager, and rose through numerous positions over more than three decades. In 2018 he was promoted from Vice Chairman to Chairman and CEO.
