Our take

CVs are generally poor indicators of a candidate's future success in a profession and unconscious bias leads to ethnic/racial discrimination in the hiring process. Applied is setting out to solve this problem by providing businesses with recruitment software that streamlines talent acquisition through a data-driven process.

Unlike traditional applicant tracking systems, Applied's software doesn't use AI and instead anonymizes candidates. It then uses proprietary algorithms based on the latest behavioral science research to find suitable candidates for vacancies. By adopting its solution, employers not only fill their vacancies with more suitable candidates, but they reduce the time spent on hiring, obtain a higher retention rate after one year, and create a great candidate experience, overall boosting their brand.

After its latest funding round, Applied plans to allocate resources to enhance its proprietary algorithms, facilitate international expansion, and grow its customer base, all in pursuit of its mission to eliminate biases in the hiring process. With clients such as Pfizer, ASOS, Penguin Random House, and Careys, Applied has already made strides in transforming recruitment practices for notable organizations.
