To transform machines making them smart enough to become teammates working alongside humans to protect valuable assets, personnel, and resources in remote, contested, or denied locations.
Remote monitoring technologies are impressive but generally fall short when facing challenges like oil theft, poaching, smuggling, and ensuring safety in extreme environments. Archangel Imaging was founded in Harwell Space Campus with the mission to unlock the capabilities of existing technologies so that they can be used to solve real-world problems.
The company has created smart, self-contained cameras that work anywhere. This means that they can provide teams with a 24/7 robotic guard for time-critical, challenging missions. It has a range of different use cases, including GNSS-denied environments, site security, rail & transportation, and antipoaching & conservation.
As the AI for Good winner of 2019, the company has been trusted by the likes of Network Rail, the Ministry of Defence, the European Space Agency, and Project Everest Ventures. With an innovative and much-needed software and hardware offering, the company is well set to make an impact in the security space.

Archangel Imaging are pioneering a future of intelligent autonomous systems working alongside people as teammates, so there is a lot of cutting edge technology and a forward thinking culture. The hierarchy is flat and we are like a small A-team so one does get to wear different hats at different times, but with support from all around. It's particularly attractive to those who thrive in being a good generalist but willing to develop some expertise in one or two areas.

Opportunities to learn

There is no shifts and you can leave the office early and catch up later so this works really well for several parents / carers in the team with children at different age groups. The hybrid working culture means depending on where you live, your role, and the business needs, your office visit can be up to 3 days/week or less. We focus on measuring outputs not hours and we invest in technology, tools, ways of working to enable collaboration across teams located in multiple countries.

We have an incredibly smart and supportive team who I personally always learn from and enjoy working with. With our location being close to Oxford and London we have access to a great local talent pool, and we care about having a team that adds to our positive culture.

Projects here push the boundaries of what's possible, importantly not just from a research perspective but taking those elements through to production. The work is complex but tackled head on and intelligently by the team and great to be part of!

At Archangel you are surrounded by very intelligent people. But importantly not the same type of intelligent. There is a broad spectrum within the team which compliments the overall environment and helps raise the bar for everyone and gives different avenues for coaching for lots of problems.
