Asaphus Vision is a Berlin-based driver monitoring software company that uses deep learning AI technology to help improve driver safety. Asaphus Vision AI processes a video stream from the interior of a car that monitors 3D head poses, eye gaze, and eye-opening state as well as face identification and facial expression.
These are all important attributes for a company working within a highly competitive and accelerating field. Level 2 and 3 automated driving are already being rolled out by car companies, which means that drivers are still required to focus on the road. This is why it’s more important than ever for AI driver monitoring manufacturing and research businesses to keep on innovating, especially as we’re still a way off from completely automated driving.
Asaphus were sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research between 2017 and 2019 and won innovation awards in 2014 and 2015. However, recently its competitors have been growing at a higher rate and partnering with larger AI and tech firms. It must look to recapture its former winning streak if it's to stave off competition and become the dominant player in the industry.
