To make customers lives more simple and secure by offering unprecedented visibility and control over their front door.
25% employee growth in 12 months
Founded in 2012, August Home provides home automation solutions with an emphasis on door cameras and Wi-Fi locks. Acquired by Swedish access company Assa Abloy in 2017, it has since expanded its technology’s compatibility to locks manufactured by Emtek and Yale.
What makes August Home stand out is its promise of a smart lock that easily attaches to an existing deadbolt while being fully controllable via a smart device, or unlockable using traditional keys. The company has an evident devotion to making the process as hassle-free as possible, even allowing the option to grant special temporary keys to guests and couriers. This flexibility seems to be a core part of its success.
With the smart lock market expected to grow at a steady pace for years to come as smart technologies further blend with domestic life. However, there are concerns that this will be met by an increase in the number of hackers, which may need to be addressed before further progress can be made.
