Our take

Aula (acquired by Coventry University Group) was developed as a response to dissatisfaction with learning management systems used by universities (e.g. Moodle, Canvas and Blackboard) which are seen as clunky and end up acting as digital filing cabinets.

Inspired by communication tools like WhatsApp and Slack, Aula replaces emails and learning management systems with a single platform. This digital infrastructure is designed to encourage conversation and participation. Aula enables new ways to teach, learn and create community.

Higher education can be slow to implement new technologies. Aula's success shows universities are recognising the need to invest in their digital infrastructure.

Company values

  • Silly Ambitious - We take calculated risks that make our palms sweaty. We embrace failure as part of achieving big outcomes. We ask: “What would it take?” not “Is that even possible?”
  • Uncomfortably Focused - We Always Deliver™ on the Most Important Thing. We embrace saying no to good projects to save room for the great projects. We start with a cupcake. We disagree and commit
  • Transparent by Default - We make good news travel fast, and bad news travel faster. We embrace radical candour in the flow of work. We create a safe environment for everyone to speak truth to power
