AviAI's mission is to become the leading integrated technology partner in the airline industry.
Baggage mishandling is a substantial problem for airlines, costing significant reputational damage, logistical delays, and over $2B every year in additional costs. It’d be a hugely lucrative problem to solve, and with air travel now back in full swing some startups are having a crack at it. AviAI is one of them.
AviAI is developing what it calls a ‘predict and prevent’ solution that augments the baggage handling process. The company is still in stealth mode, but the aim is to train algorithms to predict when particular bags might go astray, and introduce mitigation measures to help avoid it.
It’s not the only way AI is being employed to tackle baggage mishandling - complex AI tagging systems and communication networks are also being developed to mitigate the issue. For the moment, however, AviAI seems to be unique in developing the predictive model approach. It’ll be interesting to watch where AviAI takes this product as it develops.
