Company mission

To provide people in remote and hard-to-reach areas with the groceries and medical supplies they need, directly to their doorstep, with no traffic restrictions and minimal climate emissions.

Our take

Drone deliveries have many advantages over traditional methods – they produce few carbon emissions, avoid (and don’t contribute to) traffic, and reduce the need of manual handling of packages – an important consideration for sensitive and dangerous goods such as medical supplies. Aviant is one company aiming to bring this mode of delivery into the mainstream by developing long-range autonomous drones for medical and grocery deliveries.

The drone delivery race is heating up and Aviant faces hefty competition in this space from the likes of Amazon, UPS, and DHL. However, Aviant stands apart in the range of its delivery drones –Aviant’s Kyte service has a range of almost 20 miles compared to a few miles (at most) for competitors. This allows it to go beyond last-mile delivery and positions its drones as a serious delivery option in many areas. Aviant has already signed 10 commercial contracts and flown more than 2,500 deliveries in Norway, reaching even the most isolated households.

Aviant has recently raised a significant amount of capital over 2022 and 2023. It is planning to open a second base, with the aim of reaching up to 30,000 remote holiday homes with its delivery service. Going forward, the company is eyeing up further expansion within Norway and, in the longer term, to additional European markets.
