Awake Labs mission is to enhance the well-being of people with cognitive disabilities using technology so they can live the lives of their choosing.

Our take

Canadian healthcare platform Awake Labs is a mental health support platform for people with intellectual or developmental disabilities. With many within this community unable to fully express their needs or worries, those living with conditions such as non-verbal autism have to find other means of communication.

Awake Labs is one of those means, using IoS and Android-compatible smart watches that host software that can measure real-time stress levels and arousal indicators such as heartbeat and breathing. These measurements are presented on a web dashboard for carers and family members and can help carers and families meet the needs of the wearer.

In 2021, Awake Labs completed the UnitedHealthcare Accelerator and is continuing to grow its platform. The company is offering healthcare technology that could improve the lives of not only the wearers but the families and carers around them.
