Away took on a market that was being ignored by everyone else - luggage - and it's had great success bringing innovation to a product that has been unchanged for decades. With simple touches like adding a mobile charging pack inside the suitcase, it has given luggage a big overhaul, and has survived through both a global pandemic and controversial former CEO.
The company, now headed by co-founder Jen Rubio, spent some time revamping its core business and working on its workplace culture, and has successfully grown its internal infrastructure and retail presence in the last couple of years. In 2022 it partnered with United - its first partnership with a major airline - to provide customers with onboard amenity kits, which represents another step in the company's impressive return to form.
