BOL's mission is to make it easy for everyone to enjoy eating more plants.
38% employee growth in 12 months
BOL is a company committed to its ethical goals. Despite the blow to sales of removing meat and fish from their range, it went ahead with also removing dairy products, and the entirety of BOL's range is now 100% plant-based. Even with the ingredients shake-up, it still maintained impressive sales, doubling to £10 million in 2019, with an aim to hit £50 million by 2024. In keeping with its mission of sustainability, its packaging is also fully recyclable.
BOL’s range is currently stocked by Tesco, Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Ocado, among others. Furthermore, it has branched into the coffee shop market, and is now available at Costa. Among their various investors, BOL are notably backed by the Innocent founders Richard Reed, Adam Balon and Jon Wright, through their start-up fund JamJar Investments.
To develop delicious food, BOL worked with some of the best in the business, including Ian Marber ("The Food Doctor"), Tastemaker Alex Emerson-White and renowned cookbook author Meera Sodha.
