Bagboard's mission is to make it easy for you to shop and spend on sustainable brands.

It is predicted that the advertising industry will soon be worth a record £30 billion, but rarely does advertising directly benefit its consumers or the planet. Ethically promoting sustainable brands is riddled with difficulty as using leaflets and posters which aren’t necessarily going to be recycled is a decision that low-waste businesses don’t take lightly. Bagboard wants to solve this through its eco-friendly paper bags featuring marketing campaigns of sustainable brands, and its consumer reward system.
Each water-resistant, reusable, paper smart bag showcases an advert for a brand which holds sustainability at its core, alongside a QR code which can be scanned in the Bagboard app. Before leaving the house, users can scan the barcode to start earning a new digital currency branded ‘conscious coins’ to spend on the eco-friendly brands that users help to advertise by simply walking around with the bag on show.
It replaces single-use plastic bags in more than 2,000 local stores across London, with a total plastic bag offset so far of over 300,000. Through Bagboard’s partnership with the Plastic Bank Foundation, each time a smart bag is reused, a portion of the advertising revenue is used to fund ocean plastic clean up.
Bagboard is a first-of-its-kind solution. It features brands such as Brushd, _faace and Extract Coffee Roasters. The company is well-placed to capitalise on an untapped market in a society where sustainable living is at the forefront of people's minds.
