To make it easier for people to help one another.
The plethora of information available on the internet should have made it easier than ever to find recommendations for products, but this is often far from the truth. Conflicting information from different communities can make it difficult to find recommendations based on a searcher’s personal preferences, with advertisements and marketing making this even more difficult.
Benable provides an online community platform for the creation, collaboration, sharing, and discussion of recommendation lists. Users can create lists for products, locations, websites, or any other concept that they would like to curate and recommend, making these lists collaborative or managing the privacy of the list and who they share it with.
Lists were early popular formats of social media posts on platforms such as MySpace and Facebook, and so Benable’s concept of a platform based solely on recommendation lists is highly promising. By facilitating collaborative recommendation lists, the platform shows potential for popularizing an entirely new form of social media.
