Our take
Access to mortgages was historically controlled by mortgage brokers who acted as gatekeepers to the mortgage market. It's a big market, with mortgages worth almost £3 trillion. This is changing with the rise of online brokers, who are bringing innovation to this previously undisrupted market.
Founded in 2015, Better.co.uk (formerly known as Trussle) is the UK's first digital mortgage and insurance broker providing high-quality, independent advice to customers who are looking to buy a home or refinance an existing mortgage.
In 2021, the American-based digital homeownership platform Better HoldCo, Inc. acquired Trussle. This acquisition enabled Better to more effectively enter the UK mortgage market with an experienced management team, local knowledge and foundational mortgage technology for the UK.
