Our take

Finding things to do in cities can be tough, especially when existing search engines are riddled with fake reviews and sponsored listings. In addition to this problem, existing search engines frequently recommend activities that are not of interest to the user, discouraging them and potentially preventing them from finding the right activity.

Bigfoot provides an online marketplace focused on "local discovery", helping people find activities, events, and experiences within cities. The website ranks activities across ten categories based on other search engines, blogs, and rating systems, allowing users to personalise their searches and filter listings based on category preferences, pricing, and other data points.

Whilst Bigfoot inevitably faces competition from giants such as TripAdvisor, the company has taken a unique angle by aggregating information from its competitors in addition to independent sources, curating a balanced and comprehensive catalog of city activity ratings. The company also stands out with its personalised approach, allowing users to filter search results to prevent poor recommendations.
