Our take
With the climate crisis ever worsening, it is important that we change our energy consumption habits, but upgrading buildings and homes to be more efficient can be a costly affair, and one that is out of reach for many. BlocPower is tackling this issue by helping to analyze, finance and upgrade buildings with the latest green technologies, reducing the cost for anyone to make their buildings more energy-efficient.
The company employs measures such as efficient electric air source heat pumps, water heaters and solar panels, retrofitting these greener systems into almost any building. So far, it has installed over a thousand buildings with complete energy projects, personalizing its upgrade plans to each home or building owner.
BlocPower is well-funded and has been scaling its work to improve efficiency in more buildings, especially in low-income communities. Its latest funding round is cited to go towards accelerating its all-electric retrofitting project, and a grant from MassCEC will support the company in a workforce development project aimed to provide valuable green career opportunities whilst aiding the transition to a clean energy future.
