Programmers are required in almost every industry in the current digital landscape, but learning programming languages is expensive. Whilst there are many free resources available to students online, these do not meet the industry-specific requirements taught at expensive college degrees and boot camps.
BloomTech (previously Lambda School) hosts a virtual educational platform focused on teaching programming languages and computer science. Unlike boot camps and university degrees, tuition through BloomTech is completely free until the student is hired by a company. Once the student is hired and earning over $50,000 annually, they must begin paying back a student debt of $30,000.
The startup’s approach to student debt provides massive opportunities for students who otherwise could not afford to learn such a skill. By providing free education until a job has been secured, BloomTech can ensure everyone interested can learn how to code whilst guaranteeing that they will be able to pay for the tuition costs.
