Our take

Bower Collective specialises in plastic-free, reusable and refillable home and personal care products, inspired by the Bowerbird, which recycles brightly coloured plastic scraps to decorate its nest. Bower Collective's process is centred around reusing, refilling, and recycling. Its products display each or all of these qualities and are designed to be high-quality, long-lasting, and sustainable.

Initially, customers buy a reusable dispenser and select the product refill pouch they want to fill it up with. Once the pouches are empty, they can be returned through pre-paid returns envelopes. The brand will then collect, sterilise and reuse the packaging. Its data estimates that switching to Bower Collective products has so far saved 25,035kg of plastic waste from landfills and the natural environment.

Launched in January 2020, the company already counts over 140,000 members of its community and received B Corp certification in 2022 for its impact, such as helping to protect 79823m² of seagrass via a partnership with the Marine Conservation Society. Companies like Bower Collective can help us integrate sustainable behaviours into our everyday lives, something that is urgently needed today.
