Brilliant

One of the primary reasons I joined Brilliant is because I think the mission of inspiring and developing people to achieve their goals in STEM is deeply important. It's been exciting to work at a place where everyone is not just aligned, but aligned on a mission that I believe in.

Something that stood out when I interviewed at Brilliant was the kindness and thoughtfulness with which the team approached me, the interview process, and their work with each other. Since starting here I've found that to be true every day. Everyone I work with, from the CEO down to the individual contributors, works not just to get their job done but to make sure that the people they work with have what they need to stay and grow at Brilliant indefinitely.

Brilliant's onboarding includes thorough documentation and department-by-department overview presentations. Beyond the documentation, managers and team leads provide suggested first projects and ramp-up plans to get new hires up to speed quickly. I was also paired with a cross-functional onboarding buddy to help me learn more about the rest of the company as I onboarded.

Working at Brilliant gives you the opportunities to explore areas of work outside of your regular responsibilities. The leadership actively encourages people to step out of their comfort zones, and the company as a whole promotes a culture for exploring and immersing oneself in projects that will help expand people's breadth of professional skills and knowledge. Brilliant isn't a traditional work place in which people will guide you through every little detail of what needs to be done. While the company provides exemplary onboarding sessions to get people situated, others trust that you'll be able to plan your days around the most high-impact work that needs to be done during the quarters. If you are a self-motivated individual, you'll be able to take charge in how you make the most impact in the organization.

This really sounds cheesy, but working at Brilliant makes me feel proud. As an individual who has had a very lukewarm experience of learning math and science in a traditional school environment, it's great to be able to contribute to a company that creates interactive education that is actually engaging. All my life, I thought that I disliked math or science because they were "boring", but working at Brilliant really opened my eyes to the value and the delight that come from learning STEM subjects. It's great to know that my work is actually helping people like me to discover their love for learning, and it's a plus that everyone around me feels equally passionate about helping people rediscover their passion for STEM.

I enjoy math as a hobby and working at Brilliant allows me to help build software that demonstrates the beauty of something I love. Brilliant provides an inspiring mission, engaging work, and a fun culture.

There is so much beauty to STEM, but many people are turned away by curriculums that emphasize rote memorization over intuitive understanding. Our work at Brilliant empowers the countless people that have so much gain from better understanding STEM topics, but didn't get the support they needed in the past.

The culture at Brilliant is vibrant and positive. We reward hard work but also emphasize the importance of work-life balance, which we recognize varies by individual. I love our team events and how focused we all are on our company's mission.

My manager supported me when I expressed interest in picking up new skills or working on projects that I didn't have previous experience in. I was able to gain a ton of hands-on experience in a short amount of time.

I've talked with users who said that Brilliant has given them confidence to pursue a career path in a quantitative field, or finally overcome their math anxiety. It feels great to work on a product with such a large, personal impact on users' lives.

My coworkers inspire me every day! They are very generous with their time and knowledge, and the ideas we come up with together always energize me to do great work. The support system at Brilliant has been invaluable to my growth.

When I joined Brilliant, I really wanted to focus on frontend development, as I haven't gotten a chance to do that at my previous positions. I was given the opportunity to grow my skills over the past few quarters by working on projects that focused on what I wanted to learn. Now that I am curious about backend work, my work reflects that and I continue to learn cool things.

I have been working at Brilliant for a year, and my opinions have been valued since my first day. I team meetings, I feel comfortable sharing my opinions on new practices and offering new ideas about how we work. In these cases, we have discussed my, and any other team members', opinions and figured out what works best for us. I've never felt like my opinions were just brushed to the side.

At Brilliant, anyone can ask questions and give feedback, whether that is through bi-weekly all-hands, team syncs, 1:1s with your manager or through any other channel that you can find. I always feel like my opinions are listened to and valued and have never felt uncomfortable asking questions.

The team definitely prioritizes and supports each teammate's well being, whether it's through genuinely respecting vacation time granted by unlimited PTO or building roadmaps with realistic and manageable deadlines. In addition, team events and employee lunches also help build an open and friendly work community. Employee wellbeing is definitely considered as a core value at Brilliant.

Brilliant is certainly on the cutting-edge of interactive learning on the web. Learning is by far more effective when people are doing it, thus providing people with more accessible and effective ways to think and learn about STEM is a very fulfilling challenge to embark on.

Being a STEM learning and educational platform certainly attracts some of the smartest and most genuine people I've ever met, to work here. We are both agile and effective at what we do. People are experts of their domains in the many different facets of our company and will always gladly and willingly teach you something new.

Everyone here is so knowledgeable and also so willing to share the knowledge they have. We also encourage people explore growth in their careers however they see fit--we may have hired you to do one things, but if you find you're passionate in exploring something else, we will totally support you in that within the means of the company. We also offer everyone a yearly professional development stipend that each employee can use however they wish to progress their career.

I've never been around such a kind, caring group of people, in a workplace or otherwise. We care about each other's well-being without being intrusive, and we genuinely enjoy each other's company.
