Co-living company Bungalow was born after its co-founders struggled to find affordable housing upon graduating college. Noticing a gap in the market, Bungalow subdivides homes for private market investors and then rents out the rooms, whilst also matching prospective renters with housemates.
The key to Bungalow's success is in its simplicity for homeowners - who sign a master lease with the company then receive help renovating and furnishing - and its flexibility for renters. Lease terms vary between four to eighteen months, and residents are able to move between Bungalow properties without breaking it. Each home comes furnished and includes WiFi, utilities, housekeeping, and monthly community events for members.
While Airbnb can be seen as a competitor, Bungalow’s core aim is to offer more long-term residential solutions. The company has an impressive occupancy rate, which is attributed to its smaller properties and shorter leasing options. Funds raised will allow it to continue expansion into more US cities, and capitalize on the ever-growing rental demand.
