To advance society’s financial and creative freedom, by any means necessary.
Burnt is a company working with blockchain technology and Web 3.0 to help achieve its vision of financial and creative freedom for all. Its works centers around building infrastructure that will remove "cultural and functional barriers" that it believes are stopping crypto, NFTs and Web 3.0 from resonating with society at large.
The startup initially attracted attention when its founder purchased and then burned an original Banksy piece, which they had first minted as an NFT. The NFT went on to sell for double the price of the physical piece - earning admiration from some, but also widespread criticism. Following this undeniably effective PR stunt, Burnt secured a major fundraise and launched an NFT auction platform as its first endeavour - which was the first fully decentralized protocol of its kind.
Perhaps because NFTs have fallen from favour in more recent times, Burnt is now concentrating more on Web 3.0 accessibility in general. Its main two initiatives are XION, a blockchain which it says is "built to make crypto human", and BurntSTUDIO, an interdisciplinary creative shop. Together, these products deliver a toolkit that removes technical barriers for developers and brands to explore Web 3.0, as well as helping expand the perception, definition and scale of Web 3.0 in society.
