Our take
Calipsa was founded out of the prestigious Entrepeneur First incubator with the intention of automating traffic video surveillance using AI. With its computer vision and big data technology, Calipsa is able to tap into cities' existing CCTV infrastructure.
Calipsa's appeal comes from the fact that it does not require special hardware to operate, as it can use cities' existing tech. Its software has enjoyed early success in gathering and computing traffic data on a per vehicle and per item level.
Calipsa works closely with clients in six countries, and is fast earning a reputation as the global leader in false alarm reduction. Unlike some competitors, their aim isn't to replace existing security infrastructures, companies and personnel, but to support them. The strength of its product has attracted an acquisition by Motorola who plan to use Calipsa's technical expertise to develop several of their technologies.
