Carbon Health's mission is to deliver a uniquely seamless experience by removing traditional boundaries in healthcare, to make high-quality, transparent, and personal care accessible.
16% employee growth in 12 months
Over 25% of counties in the United States are medical desert regions where the population has inadequate access to healthcare and where the quality of care is not guaranteed to be very high.
Carbon Health is a national healthcare provider with the goal of eliminating medical deserts, providing high-quality care at a structure that everybody can afford. It has physical clinics and leverages technology to provide virtual care services to remote areas. The company is taking an omni-channel care approach, where the same trusted providers are accessible in every aspect of a patient's healthcare.
The company grew from 7 to 27 clinics in 2020 and plans to increase to 1500 clinics across the U.S. by 2025. It faces competition from Forward, One Medical and Doctor On Demand, among others, which may dent this ambitious expansion plan. But by focusing on underserved communities, rather than metropolitan cities, Carbon has carved out an attractive niche in order to disrupt the $10 trillion healthcare industry.
Despite tough headwinds in the healthtech sector, Carbon closed a significant Series D round in January 2023 which will enable it to scale its primary care model and introduce new technologies, for instance an AI product which automatically generates patient records from clinical conversations. This renewed focus on its core mission of leveraging technology to improve primary care puts it in a strong position to reduce healthcare inequality in the US over the coming years.
