Our take

Chatbooks is an online subscription service helping customers turn digital photos into auto-generated physical albums. It automatically assembles social media posts into 60-image albums, with additional options available like gift cards and wall prints.

This sets the company apart from custom printing services like Snapfish and Photobox, where users upload and curate their own photobook. However, the photobook market at large is beginning to separate out into high-end books on one hand and social media services like those offered by Chatbooks on the other. This division could see Chatbooks facing increased competition from companies like Prestophoto and My Social Book, as well as Google Photo's own printing service.

However, the company has firm footing in the sector. With the market growing, and Chatbooks building a strong brand with a rich online community, it looks well-placed to continue as a major player in this space.
