Company mission
Checkboard aims to simplify the property transaction process. It does this using open banking to complete the necessary verification of users, allowing tenants and buyers to evidence affordability in under 5 minutes.
Our take
As the viewing stage of a property is often affected by disagreements over value considerations and viewpoints, Checkboard aims to simplify the process by taking the hassle out of buying, selling, and renting properties.
Its platform enables tenants or buyers to undergo open banking, soft credit and ID checks to evidence their ability to complete the transaction, automating complex ID and financial information. It combines biometric face managing and automatic AML checks to get clients qualified faster.
Currently, Checkboard is developing machine learning models to disrupt the industry and revolutionise the way the property rental and purchasing process works in the UK. In the future, it aims to continue simplifying the viewing process by making it faster and more personalised.

James Owusu
(Founder )James worked at RBS for nearly 4 years before working as a Private Banking Executive at Barclays. In July 2019, he founded Checkboard, before leaving his job at Barclays in January 2021.

Josef has over a decade of experience in data analytics and software engineering and holds a Master's degree in Financial Engineering. He joined Checkboard in as a Senior Engineer and is currently the CTO.
