Our take

While the future of the blockchain industry is becoming harder to predict, it does seems clear that the sports industry is one of the best ways for it to gain exposure to the public at large. Chiliz is at the forefront of this movement as the company behind sports fan engagement platform Socios.com.

Socios.com is built on the Chiliz blockchain, Chiliz Chain, which the company hopes will become the leading infrastructure for Web 3.0 in the sports space. Some of the world’s biggest sports teams such as FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, and Juventus have created their own Fan Tokens on the platform - showcasing the company's popularity in the space.

Much of Chiliz’ growth in the future will depend on the health of the blockchain and crypto ecosystem, though it’s an encouraging sign that the company has grown quickly even during downturns in the wider crypto market. In line with its goals to bring Web 3.0 to sports, the company recently launched an incubator and accelerator programme (Chiliz Labs) that will support early stage companies at the intersection of the two fields.
