Whilst many sustainable energy startups explore new avenues for generating energy, Circu Li-Ion is looking to revolutionise the existing battery value chain. The company develops ways to upcycle batteries and cells, using a combination of engineering and AI software.
The company's "Machine-as-a-Service" solution automates the deconstruction of batteries, and performs diagnostics on them, aiming to make battery recycling more economically and ecologically friendly. With clients across the EV, electronic tool, and energy storage system industries, Circu Li-Ion clearly addresses a cross-sector need.
Having found a smart way to address both financial and ecological concerns surrounding battery upcycling, it is no surprise the company has seen good investment. The European Innovation Council awarded Circu Li-Ion with $4 million, and it raised $4.5 million in seed funding, which is being used to expand its range of partnerships and develop its main production facility for scaling fulfilment.
