Our take

When it comes to state and federal legislation, discovery and analysis has historically been time-consuming manual work for advocacy groups and organizations. Civic Eagle is looking to change that, with its policy tracking and collaboration platform Enview.

The platform provides users with automatic updates on legislation’s progress through the policy-making process, locates similarities between bills across state legislatures and the US Congress, and a collaboration tool to help advocates orchestrate their work.

It’s a crucial tool for business and advocacy groups alike, but that’s meant the market is getting competitive. TrackBill, StateScape, FiscalNote, and Quorum are mining the same vein, some with a broader reach that includes the EU, and some with additional features like automated legislative reports and further analytics.

So Civic Eagle may need to focus its new funding on building out the platform. It’s landed an impressive slate of local and national clients, however, including the Minnesota Chamber of Commerce, Southern Poverty Law Center, and Comcast - this should provide a solid foundation for future growth, if Civic Eagle can develop a strong market edge.
